National Public Radio's show Science Friday visited Cambridge, Massachusetts. They are claiming the title of "greenest city" in the U.S. Read their page and see if you can take some o these steps in your local community!
From the Science Friday website: "What does it take to become the greenest city in the country? We're broadcasting this week from the Cambridge Science Festival. In this hour, Ira and guests look at Cambridge, Massachusetts' new energy initiative. The first phase of the energy initiative, announced last month, aims to cut electricity use by 10 percent and greenhouse gas emissions by 150 thousand tons, reducing the city's carbon footprint dramatically. The plan, which will target homes, businesses, and universities, will offer energy audits and cheap loans for doing things like installing low-energy light bulbs, insulation, and more efficient heating and cooling systems.
